Two different types of confection for two high-quality feather products offering outstanding thermal comfort.
In addition to the material employed, the peculiar features of these duvets are determined by the type of confection. The fixed square and cassette quilting are two different types of confection carried out with the highest sartorial care.
“The fixed square construction is used mainly for duvets that are not particularly heavy, with a low/medium tog, and which are suitable for every season. The cassette construction, on the other hand, which is more costly due to the completely sartorial workmanship of the lining, is used for duvets with heavier fillings, with a high tog power, ideal for colder seasons and climates.”
THE FIXED SQUARE QUILTING
In duvets with fixed square quilting, the perimeter of the fabric casing is sewn together after being carefully spread out, after which the filling is uniformly distributed inside it. The quilting represents the very last stage of the process.
Thanks to “zero leakage” certified fabrics and the closed seam lines, the filling stays in place in each square and makes it impossible for the feathers to migrate from one square to the next, which also makes it easier to maintain the product.
THE CASSETTE QUILTING
The confection of the duvet with cassette quilting has internal distanced webbings between the squares that make up the duvet. Conceived as actual compartments, these “boxes” are filled with feathers one by one to favour a well-balanced and uniform distribution of the padding.
The 100% sartorial confection of the lining creates a homogenous three-dimensional structure that enhances the tog and softness of the finished product. These items require a more careful, though rather simple, maintenance: it suffices to periodically shake and fluff the duvet to maintain a uniform distribution of the padding on the entire surface.
